Attorney Frank Blanchard was a speaker at the 26th Annual Probate Court Seminar presented virtually by the Charleston County Probate Court on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Blanchard’s topic was entitled “Recovering Attorney’s Fees in Trust Litigation: From the Trust or Preferably the Other Guy.” His presentation covered the intricacies and unresolved questions of South Carolina law involving awards of attorney’s fees and expenses in judicial proceedings involving trust administration.

For the past 14 years Blanchard’s practice has been focused on trust, estate, and probate litigation. He has become a “go to lawyer” in the Charleston area for complex estate and trust disputes.

Transfers of significant family wealth upon a family member’s death and the dynamics of blended families can make things challenging. “These cases can be very emotional for family members and loved ones, especially when they are confronted with unexpected dispositions of assets,” says Blanchard. “Our paramount goal is to decipher and carry out the true intent of the deceased and to protect his or her plan for future generations, which can oftentimes be difficult for others to accept.”

Blanchard is a frequent speaker and writer on trust, estate, and probate issues and has presented on these topics before numerous groups, including trial attorneys, estate planning attorneys, law professors, and probate judges.
