A second-generation attorney and former managing member of Rosen Hagood for four decades, Richard S. Rosen is now retired.
Richard was born in Charleston and attended local public schools. He graduated from Rivers High School, received his bachelor of arts degree from Tulane University and earned his law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law. In 1987, Richard was appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to the South Carolina Judicial Council, and from 2002 to 2003, he served as President of the South Carolina Bar.
Throughout his long and varied career, Richard represented clients in matters including products liability, securities fraud, shareholder and partnership disputes, unfair trade practices, personal injury, and probate, estate, and trust litigation. He held the highest professional rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America© for Bet-the-Company Litigation, Business Litigation, Personal Injury, and Probate & Trust Litigation. He was also repeatedly named one of the top 25 lawyers in the State of South Carolina by Super Lawyers.*
Despite his illustrious list of accolades, Richard derived the most professional fulfillment from receiving a peer referral, which conveyed the “trust that my lawyer friends had in me”.
